In my final post regarding Lynda.com's iMovie '11 Essential Training, I will share my notes on Working with Audio and display a copy of my certificate of completion. The final chapter is on Sharing Your iMovies, and has subchapters on iTunes; the Media Browser; iDVD; the MobileMe web gallery; YouTube, Vimeo, and iReport; Facebook; QuickTime Movies; Final Cut; making changes to published products in iMovie; finalizing your project; and moving your project to another computer.
Notes on audio: (1) a new feature of this version of iMovie is that audio can be adjusted visually, which makes it easier to match volume levels among clips; (2) iMovie and iLife offer 400+ music clips and sound effects to choose from in case you'd rather not import audio from an MP3 player or iTunes; (3) the voiceover effect is great for narrating or explaining parts of your movie, which I could see as being handy in the case of using iMovie for learning; (4) a good habit to get into is to film extra footage in order to be able to extract its audio to replace bad audio in other clips; and (5) this version of iMovie allows you to edit your video or slideshow to music.
Lynda.com is a fantastic way to learn how to use applications and software. Though this was my first training, it will not be my last. The videos were helpful and made learning how to use iMovie '11 very easy! I look forward to using it more often in the coming months.
